Second Grade Rules

The Second graders have five classroom rules. The first day of school
each class talked about what they needed to have a good day in school. The second grade teachers then met to compare lists.
We composed these five rules which include the needs given by the students. The rules were then copied on a poster, and all
the second graders signed the poster to promise to follow the rules. The rules are as follows. 1.
I will respect God, others, and myself. 2. I will respect school property.
3. I will listen to and follow directions. 4. I will talk at the right times. 5. I will be ready to start class on time. We spent time discussing what the rules
mean and how to follow them. We hope these guidelines will help us to maintain a positive learning environment. If a student fails to follow the rules they will get a strike for their inappropriate behavior. *First strike---warning
*Second strike--- 5 minutes of walking with teacher at reccess
*Third strike--- entire recess walking with teacher *Fourth strike---call home *Anything
beyond---possible meeting with parents We start fresh everyday and expect the best.

Homework Expectations
For second grade 20 minutes of daily homework is recommended. We ask
you to help your child get in the habit of doing the following "homework". Have your daughter/son take time each
day to read for enjoyment (silently or aloud). Often this can be a quieting activity before bedtime. Reading aloud to your
child is one of the best things you can do to help her/him become a better reader. Practicing the spelling list words is
a second homework activity. Try to keep this practice short and fun. Some children benefit from writing the words. A third
activity is to practice math facts with your child.
